Tiburon

This large scale renovation won first place in the 2004 California Landscape Contractors Association competition. San Francisco architect Jay Thayer called for the elimination of banana-leaf clutter from this Tiburon home to create a sleek and elegant entryway defined by illuminated concrete spheres.

Palm-leaf clutter was cut away to create a sculpture garden in back with a commanding view of the Bay. The multi-level design includes seating areas which overlook the pool and spa area on a lower level in the back. The long curving tile staircase with several landings is flanked with soil-stabilizing native plants. Low-growing perennials with long narrow blue foliage accent the hand-made glass and wood screen which beautifully creates serene privacy in the sculpture garden.
